One of the more appealing things about Cebu for great trekking, is how beautiful Cebu mountains really are, most mountains can be reached in under 3 hours, and there is no need to travel for several hours or make use of multiple modes of transportation, you can just conveniently reach the jump-off points

Cebu’s mountains are now growing in popularity every year and for The Cebu Tourist it’s a great opportunity to explore these breathtaking mountains

Cebu Motorcycle-Scooter Ride for Hire, Habal – Habal (Unregulated Paid Ride)

Filipinos use motorcycle-scooter ride for hire, Habal – Habal, because it’s fast and cheap and you’ll see them all over Cebu touting for business, they will carry up to 2 passengers, The Cebu Tourist should generally avoid this type of paid hire in Cebu, because it’s unregulated and have no set tariff, you can be easily be overcharge for what is only a short journey if your not familiar with the route

If you do decide to ride a Habal – Habal in Cebu the estimted fare for 5km or 3 miles is estimated at ₱120.00, for a very short journey of less than 1 mile should cost no more than ₱60.00, although prices will vary depending on the traffic congestion or route

App based Habal – Habal for hire in Cebu by Angkas seem to be more appealing to hire and especially for The Cebu Tourist, since the price is fixed, and you’ll be aware of the price before you ride, it is however somewhat vague if you can call Angkas in Cebu officially regulated and licensed, since the Cebu government have not officially approved or issued drivers with a taxi style license

Contradicting on what I’ve just mentioned, there will however be occasions where a tourist will rely or ride a local Habal – Habal in Cebu, notable towards the entrance of a waterfall attraction path, hot-cold springs, and a inaccessible path usually leading up to a mountainous region, but the price will be cheap and usually fixed by the local Brgy (village) community, you may spot a tariff sign post, usually attached to a tree

Osmeña Peak

The highest peak in Cebu, Osmeña Peak stands at 1013+ and yet is one of the easiest hikes in the province, getting here requires about 3 hours to the town of Dalaguete by bus from Cebu South Bus Terminal, including 45 min to 1 hour motorycle-scooter ride for hire, Habal – Haba to Brgy (village) Mantalungon in the southern town of Dalaguete

The cool temperatures and spectacular views make it a popular Cebu Tourist attraction, although a lot of Cebu Tourist also come here to camp or traverse from Dalaguete to Kawasan Falls and Canyoneering, in Brgy (village) Badian – Alegria, South Cebu

Sirao Peak

Sirao Peak is one of the easiest and also one of the toughest and most scenic trails in the entire island, depending on which path you take

The easier route takes around 30 minutes but the more challenging trek, which includes a visit to a hidden falls, takes an average of four hours to complete

Mt. Manunggal

Mt. Manunggal is a historic place as it was where the plane of former President Ramon Magsaysay crashed back in 1957. The trail to the campsite isn’t very difficult and you might, in fact, walk on more concrete than dirt

Mt. Naupa

Another beginner-friendly trail is Mt. Naupa in Naga, Cebu. Going to the campground takes around two hours or so from Cebu City, including a short bus ride, motorcycle ride and a 30-minute hike

The trail is the same one that residents use in the area and is extremely easy, even children can hike it without a problem

Mt. Babag

For a slightly challenging trail, Mt. Babag is the best place to go

What is appealing about this trail is that it’s mostly covered so even if you walk under the heat of the sun or under a slight drizzle, it wouldn’t be a problem, the hike takes around three hours to complete and ends up near Chalet Hills

Mt. Hambubuyog

Mt. Hambubuyog offers a fairly easy but long and exposed trail for beginners, however, if you want a short albeit steeper route, there is always the Calvary Trail available for you

It takes a little bit more of physical fitness to climb Mt. Hambubuyog as a majority of the trail, if not all, is exposed to the sun
