Cebu boasts another of nature’s wonders that automatically lures The Cebu Tourist, its breathtaking waterfalls, hot and cold springs

The Cebu waterfall chilled temperature will instantly relieve you from the forever baking sun and constant humidity. Plunge yourself into a mineral soaked Cebu hot spring, the calming vibe will soothe your body and soul and will definitely give your body the rest it needs after all that swimming and diving and you’ll definitely appreciate it

The cold springs of the Cebu island are just one of the many natural attractions that have made Cebu appealing to both local and foreign tourists, these natural Cebu springs offer a place where visitors can cool off or relax after exploring everything Cebu has to offer

There will a minium entrance fee and environmental fee to pay upon arrival or upon registration at all major waterfall attractions in Cebu, this paid locally in PHP Peso from 50 to 300 PHP.  Some Waterfalls in Cebu require a local Motorcycle-Scooter Ride for Hire, Habal – Habal to reach the initial entrance to be paid locally from 50 to 100 PHP

If you’re based in Moalboal or one of the beach or dive resort, most backpackers and tourists prefer to hire a moped-scooter by the day or week while already in Moalboal, because the area is situated central and very accessible to explore the area, waterfall attractions, beaches and other attractions either side of the island, including Tanawan and Oslob.  Alternatively and cheap you may board a bus from the main bus terminal in central Moalboal near 360 Pharmacy heading south on Santander – Barili – Toledo Rd towards Kawasan- (22 kms), the bus journey continues south on the same route from Moalboal to Ginatilan and Samboan waterfall attractions, the final stop is Bato and Santander.  The distances towards Samboan and Santander are 1 hr – 45 min to 2 hrs (55 kms to 75 kms) from Moalboal, the bus service very frequent about every 30 to 45 minutes all day, 7 days a week.

Buses initial depart frequently via Cebu City South Bus Terminal, and head South West at Carcar City Rotunda to all stops to Moalboal, Badian, Samboan, Bato and Santander, via Barili – Toledo Rd

Cebu Motorcycle-Scooter Ride for Hire, Habal – Habal (Unregulated Paid Ride)

Filipinos use motorcycle-scooter ride for hire, Habal – Habal, because it’s fast and cheap and you’ll see them all over Cebu touting for business, they will carry up to 2 passengers, The Cebu Tourist should generally avoid this type of paid hire in Cebu, because it’s unregulated and have no set tariff, you can be easily be overcharge for what is only a short journey if your not familiar with the route

If you do decide to ride a Habal – Habal in Cebu the estimted fare for 5km or 3 miles is estimated at ₱120.00, for a very short journey of less than 1 mile should cost no more than ₱40.00, although prices will vary depending on the traffic congestion or route

App based Habal – Habal for hire in Cebu by Angkas seem to be more appealing to hire and especially for The Cebu Tourist, since the price is fixed, and you’ll be aware of the price before you ride, it is however somewhat vague if you can call Angkas in Cebu officially regulated and licensed, since the Cebu government have not officially approved or issued drivers with a taxi style license

Contradicting on what I’ve just mentioned, there will however be occasions where a tourist will rely or ride a local Habal – Habal in Cebu, notable towards the entrance of a waterfall attraction path, beach, hot-cold springs, and a inaccessible path usually leading up to a mountainous region, but the price will be cheap and usually fixed by the local Brgy (village) community, you may spot a tariff sign post, usually attached to a tree

Aguinid Falls is one of more than 11 waterfalls in the town of Samboan and perhaps the most popular of them all

The fall lies along the calcium-rich Tangbo River making the water beautifully turquoise

Aguinid Falls is unique because it is not a single waterfall, rather a system of waterfalls that runs for a couple of kilometers along Tangbo River and since it was promoted as an eco-tourism destination

Locals and The Cebu Tourist can’t get enough of this unique, multi-tiered waterfall system

The multi-layer cascade with the first five levels accessible to general public with a tour guide

The entire journey involves upstream river trekking and rappelling, and you will be required to climb walls, rocks and boulders

The first level is around 15 minutes from the trailhead which features a small cascade and a natural pool with a passage on the side that leads to the next level

The nearby second level is a 30-meter high slanted wall that needs to be climbed to advance to the upper levels; rockholes, rope and assistance of the guide make the climb effortless

The third level features a cavern while the fourth level is where you can jump off into a small pool approximately 6 ft deep

The celebrated highlight of Aguinid Falls is the fifth level with a towering 25-meter wall made up of mushroom-like rock formations and a shallow turquoise-colored natural pool

Binalayan Falls has 3 columns with the water flowing directly into a catch basin, most tourist will be attrached to main basin, where large depressions in the bedrock make perfect diving platforms into the cold refreshing water

Local Filipinos have mastered the climb to the top, and the tourists love to watch them dive into the around 9 meter deep basin, and this is one of highlights for the tourist visiting this magnificent waterfall in Bonbon, Samboan

Balay’g Sawa Falls is a waterfall in the Samboan Province of Cebu, the falls is situated nearby to Binalayan Hidden Falls.  The name of the waterfall basically comes from three words. Balay ug Sawa, and It literally means “python’s house/snake pit.” since it does resemble a snake pit, but without the snakes!

Balay’g Sawa Falls was relatively undiscovered by tourists until 2021, and only really known to local villagers.  The trail leading to the falls is somewhat of a hazard, mainly because of the incline along the path.  Balay’g Sawa Falls may not have the grandeur as nearby waterfalls in Samboan and Ginatilan, in fact it doesn’t have much of a fall at all, but it’s very pretty with a boutique style basins

Inambakan Falls, Ginatilan

Inambakan Falls is just one of three waterfalls situated near the quaint village of Ginatilan

The waterfall is around a hundred feet high and the catch basin has a depth of around eight feet

The Inambakan Falls is one of a few waterfalls in the island where the water loses contact with the rock wall near the point where it touches the basin

Inambakan Falls was relatively unknown and once the reputed “hidden gem” for The Cebu Tourist, until it rapidly gained the attention of waterfall enthusiast all over the island of Cebu and world, although it’s still less visited and often preferred than it’s neighbouring and more commercialized Kawasan Falls, Badian, absorb the grandeur of Inambakan Falls, and the inevitable cold plunge into the refreshing basin

Kampael Falls, Ginatilan

Kampael Falls is located just above to its more famous sibling, the Inambakan Falls, It is also close to another natural wonder in the town of Ginatilan, the Bugnawan Falls

The Kampael Falls has a height of around fifteen meters and features a compact catch basin where visitors can take a dip in its cool clear and refreshing waters, standing on the top can give visitors a breathtaking view of the falls as well as a glimpse of the other waterfalls in the area and according to locals, the name of the Kampael Falls was supposedly taken from the name of the owner of the area, Raphael

Bugnawan Falls, Ginatilan

Another natural treasure found upstream is Bugnawan Falls and like Inambakan and Kampael Falls, Bugnawan serves as another cool and refreshing place for a dip, going there is a steep 15-minute hike that will delight and ignite your senses as you slowly see it unravel right in front of your eyes and another treasured site

The falls is 20 meters high, and its flowing water drops to a wider catch basin that’s more or less 8 feet deep,

local guides may mention there is another waterfall to explore and discover just above it which you can reach in around 10 minutes

Take the air-con bus from South Bus Terminal bound for Badian via Barili – Toledo Rd,, inform the conductor your stop is Kawasan Falls and Matutinao Catholic Church, and if you are expecting to participate in Canyoneering or have pre-booked, some tour guides meet here or about 3 other tour guides meet immediately near or at the allocated meeting point along the same route .  You don’t necessarily need a prior reservation to participate in Canyoneering, there are local agents in the same area who will normally direct you to the reservation office.  Up-on arrival walk the 25 to 35 minutes passing the security check-point and into Kawasan Falls, the walk isn’t difficult but is considered a partial hazard at certain parts, because of the silppery terrain, although flat

Alternatively take a motorcycle-scooter ride for hire, Habal – Habal, towards the security check-point before Kawasan falls main entrance.  Kawasan Falls is a three-stage cascade of clear turquoise water and lagoons from mountain springs located in a lush tropical green forest environment

Kawasan Falls and Canyoneering are one of The Cebu Tourist most visited waterfall and adventure activity, day trips to the falls and Canyoneering are very popular from Cebu City for early morning departures by bus, but being so close to the beach and dive haven of Moalboal beach and dive resorts, makes Kawasan Falls and Canyoneering forever popular

New Canyoneering 2022, Kanlaob River, Cebu

New Canyoneering 2022 takes place at Kanlaob River, which is also known as Matutinao River.  Canyoneering is an outdoor activity that involves traveling down creeks or streams within a canyon by a variety of means including walking, swimming and jumping

There are two types of Canyoneering; upstream and downstream, downstream canyoneering starts from Brgy (village) Sulsogan in Badian and finishes at Kawasan Falls while the upstream canyoneering begins at Kawasan Falls and ends at Brgy (village) Sulsogan

For The Cebu Tourist Canyoneering it’s the unexpected highlighted attraction visit while in Cebu, and if you like outdoor adventure activities, this tour comes highly recommended

During the months of Septemper and October, the rainfall is at it’s peak in Cebu, the weather is often unpredictable, with torrential rain, and Kawasan Falls regularly overflows or floods, which normally closes the falls.  That’s no surprise really since the falls is in a subtropical environment also

These hidden treasures are generally known by the locals but are unfamiliar to tourists or people from the other parts of Cebu, one of these natural wonders is the Cancalanog Falls, Sangi

The Cancalanog Falls a treasured find for the first-time Cebu tourist, and even for return visitors, the greenish-blue hue of the waters, the unique glow is reminiscent of the Enchanted River in Surigao, the waterfalls itself may not be as magnificent as the other famous falls in Southern Cebu, but the clear waters of this relatively undeveloped area is more than enough to make up for it

The basin is not deep or about chest-deep, and the water is a cool aqua blue, the edge of the basin continues into a ledge, feeding another basin below, this ledge is predominantly swarmed by GoPro users and the tourist for being a natural picturesque spot
